How to get back the missing Voicemail icon on iPhone

The Voicemail option lies in the iPhone’s Phone app from where you usually call your contacts. It is located at the bottom right of the Phone app’s screen. But if it is not there, then you can try the following tips and fixes to get it back there.

Fix 1: Restart the Phone app

Beginning with really simple troubleshooting. You can simply try restarting your Phone app on your iPhone. It is possible that some minor occasional glitch is causing the Voicemail option to not appear.

Step 1: On your Phone app screen, swipe up from the bottom edge of the display and hold the swipe in the middle and then release it.

Step 2: This will open all the apps running on your iPhone. Here, swipe up the Phone app’s card to close it completely.

Step 3: Now, the Phone app is completely closed. You can go to the app library and launch the Phone app again to see if the issue is fixed.

Fix 2: Check if the SIM is inserted properly

Improper insertion of the SIM card can lead to issues with not just Voicemail with the entire cellular features. Hence make sure to pop out the SIM and re-insert it properly.

Step 1: Locate the SIM tray of your iPhone and insert and press a SIM ejector pin in its tiny hole.

Step 2: The SIM tray will pop out of your iPhone’s main frame. Slide out the SIM tray completely.

Fix 3: Hard Reboot your iPhone

A hard reboot of your iPhone is a good option if the issue is occurring due to some background process or bug. To hard reboot your iPhone:

Step 1: Press and quickly release the Volume up button.

Step 2: Then quickly press and release the Volume down button.

Step 3: And now, press and hold the power button of your iPhone until it shows the apple logo on it.

Once the phone is booted, try launching FaceTime and see if the issue is fixed.

Fix 4: Update iOS

If there is a pending iOS update for your iPhone, then it will definitely not work in favor of resolving the issue. Hence you should also check if there is an update available for your iPhone.

Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone and navigate to General and then Software Update.

If your iPhone is using Wi-Fi to access the network, consider turning it off. This will force the iPhone to use the Cellular network for all network needs. You can turn off the Wi-Fi either from the control center or by going into the Settings app.

Swipe down from the top right of the screen to bring down the control center and tap on the Wi-Fi option to turn it off. Alternatively, you can go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn it off from there as well.

Many of the users are unaware of that but Carrier providers also deliver updates for SIM setting configurations. You can check if there is any available carrier update available there. To do this, simply head over to Settings > General > About. If there is any popup available for the update, please ensure to install it by following the on-screen instructions.

If the issue is not resolving and you want to check your voicemails somehow, you can try this.

Step 1: Open the Phone app.

Step 2: Dial your own phone number from the dialer.

Step 2: Then follow the directions on the call to access your Voicemails.

Step 4: Additionally, after accessing the voicemails via call, you can restart your iPhone to get the voicemail icon back. This has worked for a couple of users.

Fix 9: Contact the Carrier

If nothing seems to work in your favor of resolving the issue, then it is a better idea to not hustle on your own and contact the service provider instead. They will let you know if the Voicemail issue is occurring due to cellular faults or the unavailability of the voicemail facility for you.
