Disable the AI-Powered Bing Search Box in Windows 11 Taskbar

Note: It is important to note that this article discusses how to disable the AI-powered search function of the new Bing search box in Windows 11, not how to remove the search box entirely.

Follow the steps below to disable the AI-powered search function of the new Bing search box on the Windows 11 Taskbar to get a cleaner search UI on your device:

1. Press the Windows + I shortcut to open the Settings app in Windows 11.

2. Go to the Privacy & Security tab on the left navigation bar and go to Search permissions under the Windows permissions section on the right.

3. Now, scroll down to the bottom and click the toggle off the switch for Show search highlights under the More settings section.

After making this change, the Bing logo or other event glyphs on the right side of the search box will disappear.

From now onwards, when you’ll open Windows search by pressing Windows + S, you will find a cleaner search UI without the AI-powered Bing search function.

How to Hide the AI-Powered Bing Search Box in Windows 11 Taskbar

If you are someone who accidentally clicks or presses the Taskbar search box, this tip is for you. Did you know that you can adjust the size of the search UI on the Windows 11 Taskbar and even hide it entirely?

If you didn’t, follow the steps below to access the setting for the new AI-powered Bing search box in Windows 11:

1. Open the Windows Settings either by the Start Menu or by pressing Windows + I on your keyboard.

2. In Settings, go to the Personalization tab on the left navigation bar and click the Taskbar option from the right.

3. Here, click the drop-down box next to the Search option to open the preset options.

4. From the options, select the Hide option to completely hide the search box on the Windows 11 Taskbar.

Note: Hiding the search box will not disable the search function. You can still access Windows search using the Windows + S shortcut or from the Start menu.

5. Alternatively, you can choose from the other three options:

  • Search icon only,
  • Search icon and label, and
  • Search box.
