What is Low Power Mode on Apple Watch?
The Low Power Mode, when turned on, will ensure to extend the battery backup of your watch by disabling a couple of core features like heart health notifications, Always On Display, automatic workout detection, etc. along with a couple of sensors.
This Low Power Mode is claimed to extend the battery life of your Apple Watch up to 36 hours on one single charge. The fall detection and activity tracking will still be working while the Low Power Mode is on.
How to Enable Low Power Mode on Apple Watch
Enabling the low power mode is pretty easy and can be done by using the following steps:
Step 1: The Low Power Mode can be easily enabled from the control center of the watch. Hence open the control center by swiping up on your watch.
Step 2: Once the swipe up control center is opened, tap on the battery percentage icon.
Step 3: On the next screen, you’ll see the Low Power Mode option right below the battery percentage. Toggle its switch to on to enable the Low Power Mode.
Step 4: As soon as you enable the Low Power Mode, you’ll get an on-screen detail about the same. You can read the description if you want.
Step 5: On the same screen, scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap on the Turn On option.
Step 6: Now, select the time interval as per your convenience and you are done.
How to Disable Low Power Mode on Apple Watch
The Low Power Mode autpmatically gets truned off after the selected time interval gets passed. But if you manually want to disable it before the selected interval the you can do it in two ways:
- One is by plugging the Apple Watch to the charger. Once the Apple Watch starts getting charged, the Low Power Mode will automatically get disabled.
- Second, you can manually toggle off the Low Power Mode switch by going to Control Center > Battery Percentage > Toggle off Low Power Mode.
Low Power Mode Vs. Power Reserve
The Power Reserve and Low Power Mode are two different features available on the Apple Watches though, both are intended to save battery.
The Power Reserver mode is more agressive towards limiting the funtionality of the watch. When enabled, the watch can only be used to see the time upon pressing the side button. It completely disables all the sensors and feature in the watch including the communication with the iPhone.
On the contrary, the Low Power Mode is more intelligent as it allows the users to use all the basic features of the watch along with no communication hinderance with the iPhone. It only disables the unnecessary sensors and features while retaining a good level of smartwatch features up to be used.
